Vanessa Da Silva grew up in rural Maine. While studying abroad in Florence, Italy, she took a recreational wine class and became enamored with wine. Shortly after graduating from the University of Maine with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing & International Business, Vanessa decided to pursue a career in wine. Vanessa completed the Intensive Sommelier Training Course at the International Culinary Center (formerly French Culinary Institute) simultaneously passing the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory and Certified exams. After several years working as a Sommelier in Manhattan restaurants, Vanessa returned to the ICC where she took on the role of Wine Studies Coordinator, working on the educational side of wine. Vanessa decided to return to the restaurant industry and worked as a Sommelier and Wine Director in several fine dining restaurants in New Jersey and Manhattan before having the opportunity to join the BYRD opening team. Vanessa now has over 12 years experience in the wine and restaurant industry. In her spare time she enjoys hiking and is an avid home baker.
